Professional:

I started my own law practice in July of 2007. I center my practice around estate planning, which includes related areas of estate administration, real estate, elder law/Medicaid planning, business law, tax law, family law, and Veterans Benefits. I have handled many aspects of each of these practice areas. I have been invited to speak for dozens of estate planning seminars all over North Carolina and have advised thousands of individuals on estate planning issues. I have planned many hundreds of estates including many multi-million-dollar estates. I have experience in preparing complex trusts, like charitable remainder trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, retirement account trusts, generation-skipping trusts, special needs trusts and others.

Education:

Indiana Wesleyan University, B.S. Summa Cum Laude (3.91 GPA), 2001; Student Government Organization Senator; Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society; University Chorale.

Regent University School of Law, J.D., 2005; 3.35 GPA (top 20%), Regent Merit Scholarship Recipient— full tuition, Chaplain of Student Alumni Association, Student Bar Association, Christian Legal Society, Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association.

Previous Employment History:

2005-2007: Associate Attorney with Parker Hauser & Cabaniss, PLLC law firm. I was offered a full partnership with the firm, which I declined in order to start my own law firm.

2005: Part-time Associate Attorney with Charles Ullmann & Associates.

2004: Campaign administrator for Court of Appeals judicial candidate, William E. Parker, III.

2002: Public school teacher and head varsity baseball coach.

Personal information and Community Involvement:

Married to Amber Huston with one daughter, Ella Kristine Huston, and one son, Eli Zachary Huston.

Member of Summit Church in Raleigh. My wife and I host a weekly Bible Study in our home.

I volunteer in my community by helping to clean and renovate public schools. I have volunteered in the Wills for Heroes program to provide free legal services for police officers, firefighters, and first responders. I also volunteered legal services for JusticeMatters to provide free legal services to indigent North Carolina residents.

Interests include singing, hiking, sports, philosophy, and theology. I have enjoyed singing in barbershop quartets and other acappella groups. I enjoy exercising, playing and/or watching sports like baseball, basketball, tennis, football, running, cycling, and martial arts.
